Medium: Stop-Motion/Wood Sculptures/Practical Effects
My BFA Thesis at the University of Colorado Boulder Film Studies Department. A metaphorical experimental tale about the life of film, from the discovery of light to the ambiguous future of the medium.
My puppet animation to see if everything works as it should, including head movement, hand closing, and arm movement. Also was a way for me to get an idea of how everything looks in action and on screen.
This is an excerpt from my 2012 undergrad film, THE BRIDGE. It is my first attempt at stop-motion utilizing my own handmade camera prop.
Another animated segment taken from my film, "The Bridge". I experimented with the idea of incorporating unpredictable, practical elements like heat on photographs to see if it would create the unsettling effect I hoped it would create. Inspired by Hollis Frampton's "Nostalgia".
Designed and created my own robot mascot who dances despite having a very limited amount of articulation and doesn't let his imperfections stop him from doing the things he loves.
My own fabricated record player designed to act on its own and for the purpose of stop motion animation.
A character of mine, "The Axeman", who embraces the natural sounds of the forest to create folk metal. Employed my typical stylings of geometric shapes and simplistic features.
A wooden object created to experiment with more abstract shapes and movements.
Created a logo animation for a studio I worked for at the time employing my style and love of wooden gears. It was a step into applying my animation skills into the professional world.
