Manufactured (2018) - Exhibited at CalArts
'Manufactured’ presents a distillation of early cinematic principles and its intersection with early innovations pertinent to the Industrial Revolution through an assemblage of separate devices to showcase each principle. It is a hand-crafted meditation on ideas of standardization, mass production, and skeuomorphism.
By presenting each element as sculptural forms, the piece recounts the manufactured forms of how current cinematic production is largely presented in the mainstream as projected scenes on a silver screen; treating light and the image as the non-tangible product that continually cycles, transforming depending upon how the viewer moves around the installation.
